 A Brief Introduction to
Children-Amity Fund of Hope

Children-Amity Fund of Hope (CAFH) is a cooperative project between Amity Foundation and a Germany organization which initiated by Dr. Florian Langenscheidt - Children for a Better World to help the children in Mainland China to have a better world. Both parties agree to cooperate on projects that aim at providing financial assistance to children in difficulty, e.g., Foster Care Project for orphans in the state-run orphanages and Rural Orphan Fostering Project in China.

The joint project is named “Children-Amity Fund of Hope (CAFH)”  which is  financed mainly from the funds provided by Children for a Better World, or by  pooling the money through the fundraising of both Amity and Children for a Better World. Amity Foundation is responsible for carrying out the two projects. Both parties agreed to cooperate for a first period of three years from 2006-2008, during which Children for a Better World will provide Amity with Euro 100,000 each year to support the above-mentioned two projects.

According to the agreement, 138 children under Amity’s Orphanage Fostercare Sponsorship Project are being supported. Each child receives about RMB 3960 yuan (including Amity’s 10% administration fee) per year for covering their costs of nutrition, clothing, medical costs and living expenses. It includes an additional amount of school fees for the children, e.g., 1200 yuan per year for those in the kindergartens, 600 yuan per year for the orphans in the primary schools, and RMB 800 yuan per year for the orphans in the middle schools.

Another 347 children are being supported under Amity’s Rural Orphan Foster Care Project. Each orphan receives 1,485 yuan (including Amity’s administration fee) per year, among which 600 yuan is for living expenses, 240 yuan for medical care, 300 yuan for school fees and stationaries, and 200 yuan for clothing. The remaining 145 yuan is kept for administration.

Amity is  responsible for choosing the children who need to be supported, and providing Children with all relevant information in English about the children to be supported twice a year. Amity shall give the English reports on situation of the projects such as the locality of  the projects, number of children sponsored, grade status of the students in primary or secondary schools and the transcripts and evaluations from the respective schools. Amity will also submit an audit report to the Children for a Better World at the end of each calendar year.
